No single individual is qualified enough to successfully practice dentistry without adequately diagnosing and treating his ailing patient efficiently. The department of Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Radiology through its systematically designed training program teaches its undergraduate and postgraduate students the art of diagnosing various dental diseases.

It is a hub of early detection of tobacco induced precancerous conditions & lesions of the mouth and counseling of the patients to quit the habit is also carried out in this department.

In today's world of globalization, this department also renders sufficient training in the recent advanced procedures in the field of Dental and Maxillofacial Imaging necessary for prompt diagnosis of complex Maxillofacial diseases.

As part of its undergraduate training program, the students gain sound knowledge in diagnosing common tobacco induced lesions, various dental anomalies, oral ulcerative conditions among many other diseases and disorders. The students are also trained in conventional radiography.

As part of its training program, treatment of medically compromised patients, complex Orofacial pain conditions, Oral cancers with specialized imaging procedures etc. are a few areas which are emphasized upon.
