Anti Ragging Measures
Pursuant to the directives of the Honourable Supreme Court of India and in accordance with the UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar maintains Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad mechanisms for strict implementation of all directions.
The members of the anti-ragging committee and anti-ragging squads along with their contact details are displayed for the benefit of students, especially newly admitted students.
At the beginning of every academic year, students are educated about the anti-ragging policy and the institute's zero-tolerance stance.
Definition
Definition of Ragging
Any conduct by any student or students, whether by word spoken or written or by an act, which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student; exploiting students, obstructing academic tasks, extorting money, inflicting physical abuse, forcing obscene acts or gestures, or disrupting the regular academic activity of other students.
Implementation
Enforcement & Awareness
- Each student and parent or guardian is required to submit undertakings at the time of admission confirming awareness of the prohibition of ragging and the punishments prescribed under law and institutional regulations.
- Anti-ragging hoardings, banners, and billboards are displayed at prominent places across the campus including canteens, buses, playgrounds, lawns, and laboratories.
- The institute maintains close liaison with local police authorities. FIR action can be initiated in reported cases, and regular fresher briefings are carried out by counsellors and coordinators.
- In case of any ragging incident, students are instructed to immediately contact committee members so corrective action and disciplinary proceedings can begin without delay.

Disciplinary Action
Punishment for Ragging
- Lodging FIR against the offender.
- Rigorous imprisonment for up to 3 years under the court of law.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to another institution.
